Each family trained in poultry is to start with ten(10) hens ready to start laying eggs and one (1) cock for fertilizing the hen to give eggs for poultry production. Each hen is at a cost of $5 Dollars. The indigenous birds gives nutritious eggs, great source of white meat, and poultry droppings are used as manures in soil fertility for food security in families.The indigenous are very less expensive to maintain unlike the non-indigenous. There is steady market for indigenous chicken and the value proposition is to maintain poultry production for wealth creation in the uplifting of poor families out of poverty for economic self-reliance.
